Vivienne Westwood Red Label Spring/Summer Ready to Wear 2016 London Fashion Week Catwalk

Vivienne Westwood, 74, has never been one to shy away from politics. In fact, she drove a tank to British Prime Minister David Cameron’s country home in order to protest against drilling for oil and gas. So it comes as no surprise that the designer would open her Ready to Wear Collection with stylishly dressed protestors carrying placards that read “Austerity is a Crime” and “Fracking is a Crime.”

The rebel designer’s style remains daring and very much true to her style. There are plenty of draped and corseted dresses, and tartan – the standouts were the historically influenced and corseted gowns. Some looks had a timeworn appearance, perhaps a nod to Westwood’s musings on austerity.
