Carolina Herrera made history this year by presenting her Spring/Summer Ready to Wear 2016 at the Frick Collection. The Frick Collection, mind you, has never hosted a fashion show – though many designers have asked. And we can see why, the atrium is light by natural skylight and the Beaux Arts atmosphere is magical.
Though the setting was distinctly from another era, Herrera’s collection was firmly in the present. The designer embraced high-tech materials and continued to hone her modern aesthetic. On show were gorgeous see-through panel dresses and barely-there tulle, as well as a few pleated designs. Most notably was the shade pink. Herrera herself has commented that this is your rose period, and the shade was clearly represented.
