Despite already living together and very much living a life of a husband and wife, as Raquel describes it, they were keen to tie the knot and call each other their other half. Read on to find out why we love their story so much!
The Proposals
The fact this adorable couple lived together didn’t stop Gustavo from managing to surprise Raquel twice!
“On my birthday he prepared a delicious breakfast in bed for me and on the tray there was a gorgeous ring, and he just asked me on the spot! There I was still all dishevelled having just woken up. It was incredibly exciting and it took me a minute or two to realise that it wasn’t all just a dream”, she recalls. “Later that same day when all my family got together, Gustavo asked for my father’s permission in the most traditional way possible (even though I had already said yes!) It was wonderful.”

The Ceremony
Raquel and Gustavo chose Castelo Monalisa in São João Nepomuceno to celebrate their big day. “We chose Castelo Monalisa because it’s simply wonderful. It’s a real castle and I really did feel like I was part of a fairytale.” Wearing an entirely lace Pronovias dress with pearl detailing, a long veil and a stunning tiara, Raquel looked like a princess too.

Pure Emotion
Held by Father Pierre, a friend of the family, the ceremony was undoubtedly one of the most special parts of the day. “Seeing all our best friends and family as we entered the ceremony was fantastic, they all looked so excited and happy to be there, and then at the end of the aisle, there was my groom with a huge smile on his face. I couldn’t have asked for more!”

The Decoration
Raquel had said that she likes traditional weddings, so the style of this fairy-tale wedding was just that: traditional and sumptuous. There was a hint of gold present in the flower arrangements, in the sous-plats as well as some flecks in the rooms’ furnishings which complemented the pastel flower arrangements that we had picked out.

An Unforgettable Celebration
Of course the party was always going to be another one of the best parts of the day! “The setting was magical, with everyone there and with burning torches at the entrance to the dancefloor, it was one of those moments that left my heart pounding” recalls Raquel.

Bride’s Advice
“Make sure you have a good wedding advisor; they will be invaluable and will help you solve all sorts of unforeseen problems. I can’t recommend my fairy godmother Renata Cruz more! She was wonderful. The most important thing is to make sure that you host the wedding you’ve always wanted, the way you want to. It’s your wedding! Of course make sure you listen to advice, but in the end, it is your decision!”
