A Few Things That You Might Forget To Do If You Don’t Hire a Wedding Planner

When it comes to organizing a wedding, there are a hundred and one things to be taking into consideration. It’s not just a case of writing a to-do list, checking things off, paying for things and then waiting for the actual day to come; there are a whole host of minor details that are all pretty important but easily forgotten in all the madness. So, to save you some of the fuss, here are a few things that you might want to think about, although our advice would be to get yourself a wedding planner – they sure make life a lot simpler!

1. Find yourself a good deal

If we know anything about wedding planners it’s that apart from having a wealth of experience in their field, they’re great with numbers and budgeting. In short, they know how to save you a few extra cents. That’s not to say that your wedding is going to be free, but rather that having the right people and know-how means you can often get a great deal in line with your budget. Take it from us, if you’re not a great negotiator, the best thing to do is to get a professional on your side to help out.

2. Stay within your budget

If you’re terrible with numbers it’s likely that you don’t have a very clear idea of what your budget is going to be and how you’re going to stick to it. If you’re not relying on a wedding planner, then be prepared for “budget” to become a bit of a wedding buzzword. If you don’t want to hire a wedding planner in full, perhaps consider talking to someone who might be able to talk through finances with you – having some help in this regard will make the whole period leading up to your wedding a lot easier to enjoy.

3. Make a minute-by-minute plan for the big day

Thinking about your big day in detail is going to be crucial if you want to enjoy it to the full. So, all the stages of the day need to be thought out and put in an order. For example, your getting ready, when the photos are going to be taken etc. If you are trying to organize your wedding all by yourself you’re bound to get stressed and confused, not because you’re disorganized but just because no one else is going to be in on all of the workings of the day. So, we’d suggest getting in touch with a professional to help you out or calling on a friend or two who have been through it all before, to give you a bit of guidance. Above all, if you’re going to hire a wedding venue we would recommend using their services – they will take care of everything, leaving you with less to worry about.

4. Organize a photographer

It might be that you’ve seen a thousand ideas for the types of photographs you want taken, and you think you might be able to ask a couple of friends to take charge of the photos. You could, but we would highly recommend hiring a professional photographer. By hiring a photographer you are sure to get much better photos at the end of it all; they know who they need photos of and will be much better at taking the kinds of photos you might have in mind. This is an important point – even though most photographers are very competent, don’t forget to fill them in on the plans for the day and the sorts of moments you want photographed as well as what sort of style you’re after too. You’ll be able to enjoy the day much more rather than worrying about making sure all the right people and moments are being documented!

5. Keep things consistent

It’s important to make sure that when you pick companies who will be providing any kind of service at your wedding you consider the overall style of your wedding. In short, you want to make sure that everything fits together well in terms of theme and style. To help you out, perhaps have a think about getting in touch with a wedding decoration company to ensure that everything looks just as you imagined on the day!

6. The music

Like we have said, when planning your big day it’s important to make sure that everyone, no matter how big a part they are going to play, is kept in the loop. This includes the DJ. You’re probably planning on hiring a DJ, after all creating the right atmosphere is important. If you haven’t already, have a think about the kind of music you might want played at your wedding and when. For example you might want a live band for earlier in the day and a DJ for later in the evening as the celebrations continue. Whatever you decide, remember to make sure that everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet! Maybe consider talking to a light and sound company too if you want a proper dance floor with all the gear!
