It all starts with the proposal. These days, the proposals are getting more and more inventive (see the guy who created a video game!) It’s an exciting moment and one filled with much trepidation. This is the moment that marks the beginning of the rest of their lives, so you know the pressure to get it right is on!
Music really is the perfect for putting us in the right mood: when we’re feeling low, just hearing Pharell’s “Happy” can perk us up instantly, or alternatively, if we want to wallow a bit, we can tune into Radiohead. Equally, we think that if you want to set the mood just right, choosing the perfect song is essential. That’s why we’ve made a few selections of some truly lovey-dovey songs that could help you propose!
Whether you decide to sing the song yourself with live musicians or with just your phone, or if you want to go old school and pull a John Cusak and upheld stereo, just remember to give it your all no matter what key you’re in. Without further ado, here’s our list:
1. Marry Me – Jason Derulo
“105 is the number that comes to my head when I think of all the years I want to be with you.” In our book, promises of forever definitely sets the right tone for a proposal.

2. Marry you – Bruno Mars
If you’re planning an elopement then this is the perfect song for you. Lighthearted and carefree, the catchy tune makes us run away to a little chapel, too!
3. I’m yours – Jason Mraz
“Well you done done me and you bet I felt it. I tried to be chill but your so hot that I melted” – and set to the laid back tune, this song just makes us want to let go and give into love.
4. Make You Feel My Love – Adele
The queen of soulful ballads, nobody makes us feel the depths of love, even when it hurts, the way that Adele does.
5. All of Me – John Legend
If Adele is the queen, then John Legend is the king. His soulful serenades make us want to run to our SO and tell them how much we love them.
