It’s difficult to define the sometimes overused word: Retro. Just as the term “retrospective”, the word retro comes from the Latin and means “backwards”, which gives us many clues about the concept to which it refers. Some associate it with all things vintage, however there is a major difference between the two. Retro is not intended to emulate the style of an earlier era. To be precise, retro can be a physical object or a notion which shares the nostalgia of another time, but whose appearance has been renewed. Retro is also used more often to refer to things from the 1950’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s while vintage refers more to the era of the 1920’s to the 1940’s.
Even taking into account these characteristics, it is very difficult to define the term precisely because there is such a large number of varieties within a retro style. We chose to focus on one of them: the chic variety. It’s well known that chic always has a minimalist touch, another adjective that refers to the expected trends for this new season. We’ve put together a selection of retro dresses (inspired by the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s) and various accessories that you will love!
