Pets: How to Include them in your Wedding

For those of us who have pets, we know they´re more than animals, they´re family. Here´s some adorable ways to include your whole family, human and animal alike in your big day!

  • Planning the wedding

Pets are family members and you can and definitely should include them on your big day if you want! First and foremost, be sure that your pet can handle the stress and that any flowers or wreaths you put on them  are not toxic to them. It might be  a good idea to hire a pet sitter for the big day so that you aren´t distracted making sure your pet is behaving or feeling okay. With that in mind, here are some great ways you can include your pet!

Have them serve as the wedding ring bearer – attach the ring directly to their collar, or on a little pouch, or even a pillow atop your pet if s/he will tolerate it. If your pet is too shy to walk down the aisle, s/he can sit beside the altar as the wedding mascot, or as part of the bridesmaids or groomsmen.

You can dress up your adorable furry friends to match the color palette of the bride or groom – attach a mini bouquet to the collar of your little loved one or a wreath of greens. If your pet doesn´t tolerate too much adornment, you can opt for a simple bowtie or a decorative leash.

If your pet is a little larger than a dog and aren´t quite suited for the ceremony, you can always include them in your engagement or after ceremony photos.
