Otherwise known as the Winged Nike, “The Winged Victory of Samothrace,” is the famous headless, second-century Greek sculpture displayed at the top of a staircase at the Musée du Louvre in Paris. The statue depicts the goddess Nike in flight and has inspired many artists who´ve seen its flowing form, including wedding dress designer Austin Scarlett. The same sense of movement can be seen in his collection from the strapless ballgowns with layered tulle skirts and tulle column gowns with detachable trains to the fine details of cascading petals, embroidered lace and crystals, and satin organza piping. All the dresses evoke a goddess in flight.
