Description

I spent my childhood engrossed in magic, fairy tales and mythology. My interests all involved the art of seeing things that might not be apparent to everyone else. It came as no surprise that I became a visual artist.

Creativity is my form of communication. Painting, sculpture and later photography, are all tools that allow me to document the thoughts that words may not fully express.

Thinking that I wanted to make a difference to the world through photography, I focused on photojournalism and documentary photography but ultimately I discovered that making a difference to a couple or a family was the most rewarding. My empathy allows me to “see” the emotions, words and thoughts. I hunt for visual clues and pieces to the puzzle together to create a portrait of the entire day.

I love that I can be a visual archivist of all the myriad emotions that the couple experiences on their wedding day.

Being deeply invested in the lives of the couples enhances our collaboration. When I can provide you the safety of being yourself in front of my camera, you are able to provide me with the most honest and heartfelt aspect of yourself.

This confidence, as captured by me, will translate into phenomenal photographs.

And for the "official credentials".....

Kristin Reimer, a visual artist and photographer with over 15 years of wedding and portrait photography experience, founded Photomuse in 2002. Focusing on fine-art and documentary wedding photography, Photomuse continues to garner award-winning imagery that is recognized by her peers in the professional guilds: the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers {ISPWP}, Fearless Photographers, the Wedding Photojournalists Association {WPJA} and the Artistic Guild of Wedding Photojournalism {AGWPJA}.

Originally a painter, she concentrated solely on photography while attending college at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Kristin's photography reflects her past work as a painter; producing tactile imagery that is rich and lush and uses multiple layers to create depth. Prior to founding Photomuse, she focused on photojournalism and documentary photography while working at Magnum Photos and subsequently as the studio manager for renowned photographers Elliott Erwitt and Ed Kashi.

Kristin's wedding photography has been featured in the book "Wedding Photography - A Guide to Posing." Her wedding work, as well as her personal work, has been featured on blogs nationally and internationally as well as published in print and exhibited in galleries.

I used their services for my wedding

Kristin is a brilliant and talented photographer.  More than a simple wedding photographer, Kristin is an artist.  When comparing her samples to others when we were figuring out a photog, her work jumped out at us as being on another level, and we felt lucky to secure her before someone else snapped her up.  She is not only a wonderful photographer, she is an amazing, kind, gentle, wonderful person, unobstrusive in her work and pleasant and calming on a busy, harrying day.

I would never use another photographer, as while I can feel stiff and unnatural in front of the camera, knowing that Kristin actually cares about me and the images that she captures made me feel relaxed and comfortable.  The photographs she took are phenomenal, and I couldn't be happier to have had her as our wedding phtographer.

We worked with Photomuse for our October 2015 wedding, which took place at ICI Restaurant in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Kristin captured the all aspects of our amazing day and we love that the fun we had celebrating really came through in the photos! She was so easy to work with (we also did engagement photos with Photomuse) and had great ideas to accompany ours. We've gotten so many compliements on how well the photos turned out, we'd absolutely recommend!

We used Photomuse for our wedding in May 2013. Our ceremony was at a gothic-stlye church on Central Park West and the reception was at the Museum of Art and Design in Columbus Circle. From the initial consultation to all of the meetings inbetween, Photomuse was amazing. The pictures captured of our big day were incredible with some of them actually being published in wedding publications. The wedding album that Kristin put together was spectacular...she pays so much attention to every last detail. We have received many compliments on the work and have used Photomuse since then for other events. I would use no one else!
