Monique Lhuillier Fall 2012 Bridal Collection of Whimsical Wedding Dresses
Set against the backdrop of an enchanted forest, the runway show for Monique Lhuillier’s Fall 2012 Bridal Collection was like a fashion fairy-tale. The models were dreamy and ethereal in light and frothy sheaths, mermaids and ball gowns made from flowing chiffon, tiers of tulle and delicate lace.
World-renowned for her innovation in bridal fashion, Monique Lhuillier brings us yet another collection to fawn over for Fall 2012. With high style in mind, her designs are ultimately made for brides to look and feel beautiful on their wedding day.
No black dresses like Vera Wang’s here, the collection’s palette is traditional white but with a diverse array of styles to suit the individual tastes of today’s fashion-minded brides. Ever-present lace is used for overlay and sleeves. The skirts are voluminous, tousled and textured. And front slits are showing a little leg.
Three-quarter length sleeves were seen on many new dresses on the runways at New York International Bridal Week. Lhuillier pulls them off effortlessly by making the sleeves on her dresses sheer and with gorgeous lace embroidery.
Lace embroidery and highly-textured skirts make these ball gowns uniquely luxurious. Simple sweetheart necklines balance full skirts with layers of tulle, cascading chiffon ruffles or an interestingly beautiful contrast of both.
Beyond the ball gowns, this collection is full of texture. Even the simplest and sleekest designs in the collection feature crinkled and molded fabrics. Lace appliques enhance mermaid gowns and Lhuillier’s signature bow belt adorns many of the dresses.
A handful of Lhuillier’s dresses had sexy slits in the front, allowing for more movement in a mermaid style skirt and to highlight one of womens’ best assests–long, lean legs.
