Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell’s Lovely London Wedding

Rumors began sparking last week that the wedding of Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell was fast approaching after submitting their notice to wed back in September. The rumors were realized on Sunday when the couple exchanged vows in London.

The ceremony of the former Beatle and the American heiress was held at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London on Sunday afternoon. Paul married here once before, to his first wife, Linda Eastman, in 1969.

Hundreds of fans were waiting outside the register’s office for a chance to see the famous newlyweds emerge.

The bride wore a simple ivory dress with long sleeves and carried a bouquet of pastel roses. The groom complimented her look in a dark blue suit, white shirt and light blue tie. Both of their attires were custom-made designs by Paul’s daughter, Stella McCartney.

We weren’t surprised to see Nancy in a knee-length dress, since we’ve noticed short wedding dresses becoming more and more popular for brides. And notice how she opted for a simple flower in her hair, as we’ve recommended flowers, fascinators and other headpieces as style statements and alternatives to veils for brides.

Guests lined the stone steps of the hall and threw rose petals to congratulate the happy couple. With all those petals, one got stuck in Paul’s hair and he had to shake it off. As Nancy tried to help him brush it away, we caught a glimpse of her ring from Los Angeles jeweler Neil Lane.

Although plans for the ceremony were hush-hush, the reception at Paul’s home in St. John’s Wood was supposedly a boisterous affair. So much that Paul’s neighbors called the police complaining of noise at 1:30am. We certainly think the couple deserved to celebrate.

Guests sipped Dumangin Grande Reserve champagne and nibbled on goat cheese polenta and dumplings. Two cakes—one vegan and one chocolate—were served by Posh Puds Patisserie.

At the reception, Paul serenaded his lovely new wife with a song he wrote just for her. Nancy was sure to be in a state of bridal bliss. Zankyou would like to say congratulations to the happy couple!
