Traditionally, it was frowned upon if the bride wore anything other than white. Colored gowns are not just for second weddings anymore. Today’s brides however are more creative and original. They are daring and choosing other colors besides white to wear on their wedding day.

Celebrities are amongst the most creative when picking out their wedding gown. We all look to their choices and maybe take a bit of inspiration from them that we can mix with our own.

Let’s look at some of our favorite people in the spotlight who chose to be audacious and went with colorful wedding gowns.

Dita Von Teese

The famous first lady of burlesque donned a one of a kind purple Vivienne Westwood gown that was made especially for her by the designer herself.

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth

It was the second time for the actress to walk down the aisle, so she chose a pink Monique Lhullier gown when she wed Hollywood agent Jim Toth.

Sharon Stone and Phil Bronstein

Mrs. Bronstein (her then married name) went with a blush pink Vera Wang gown when she wed San Francisco mega-publisher Phil Bronstein.

The bride and bride both wore original Zac Posen creations with matching vest-like tops but Ms. De Rossi opted for a light pink ballerina skirt made of lace and tulle.

Should you choose the color path on your wedding day, make sure the color you choose is meaningful. You want to the color to draw positive attention instead of being a negative distraction. Also take into account your skin color and go with something that will flatter your skin tone. Pink looks great on everybody but yellow fairs better with lighter skin.

Hip hop and R & B superstar Kelis donned a dress by British designer Matthew Williamson. Green is her favorite color and she insisted that it be incorporated into her dress.

One would think that fashion’s It Girl would have chosen a more elegant and classic gown for her wedding. She went with black because she said she didn’t like all the attention. The actress later said she regretted making that choice.
