Oscar de la Renta Fall 2012 Bridal Collection

It’s definitely quality over quantity in the Oscar de la Renta bridal collection for Fall 2012. A much smaller collection than in years past, the designer brings us seven standout wedding dresses filled with the romantic textures of florals, lace and ruffles.

Floral accents are big for Fall 2012 and we noticed the designer made use of three-dimensional floral adornments on a few of his dresses. The dimension of the accents not only adds texture, but creates the illusion of real flowers covering the dress.

The collection also presented us with crocheted lace detailing. The lace detail added a classic feminine touch whether it was all over the dress or in the form of three-quarter length sleeves, which we saw were quite popular at New York International Bridal Week.

The dresses were ultra-feminine and super romantic with flirty details like this fluffy trumpet skirt with its oodles of cascading ruffles.

This dress follows the same design concept although in shiny silk and satin and with a more tiered effect on the ruffled skirt. Crystal embellishments on the waist make it extra elegant and give the appearance of a belted wedding dress.

Two of the dresses featured an interesting gathered front hem. The skirts were bunched the front hem lifted just enough to show off a gorgeous pair of high heels. We’ve noticed wedding shoes becoming a more bold style statement in a bride’s ensemble.

What do you think of this “mini” bridal collection for Fall 2012 from Oscar de la Renta?

I can’t believe Oscar de la Renta only made seven dresses for this collection. Maybe he has something more up his sleeve for Winter 2012…

Thumbs down for this collection. I think full-dress motifs are distracting and baroque.
