Marchesa’s elegant bridal designs are inspired by vintage and Asian influences, and the 2011 bridal collection features ruffles, feathers and loads of textured fabrics.
Co-founded by British designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, the Marchesa label is named for its muse, Marchesa Luisa Casati, an eccentric, turn-of-the-century European socialite. Ms. Chapman is also recognized as an actress (“Gossip Girl”, Match Point) and wife of Harry Weinstein, co-founder of Weinstein Co. and Miramax Films.
Now that you know the women behind the wedding gowns, on to the collection!
Nearly every Spring 2011 wedding dress collection that we’ve seen so far features at least one short bridal gown. The lacy model above would be perfect on a petite frame.
The long, two-tiered, embroidered veil helps soften the structured bodice of the dress above.
The one-shouldered number above is our top pick from this collection. We feel like we could look at it for ages and keep noticing new, beautiful details. That tulle! The flattering rows of delicate flowers! That gorgeous wisp over the shoulder. Divine.
This one may be a close second, however. The cascade of plumes snaking down the bodice of the dress should be fussy, but instead it’s just stunning.
