Marchesa designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, whose evening wear is usually vintage or Asian influenced, cited the underwater world as their inspiration for this collection. With their crisp, clean lines and avant-garde architecture, these dresses seem to have been sculpted in the shapes of seashells.

Very similar to the Monique Lhuillier Fall 2012 Bridal Collection, there is an emphasis on tulled and textured trumpet skirts. It seems fitting that Marchesa would embrace the trend since it works in perfect harmony with their deep sea inspiration. These dresses certainly create a mermaid-like silhouette.

Definitely vintage-inspired, similar to the Marchesa Spring 2012 Bridal Collection, the ruffled peplum and trumpet skirt on this dress make it the ultimate mermaid-esque wedding gown.

The traditional princess-y wedding dresses and ball gowns are here as well. From crystal embellisments and off-shoulder styles to fluffy and ruffled to even more fluffy and ruffled, these dresses are pure bridal elegance.

Most designers include a few short wedding dresses in their collections and Marchesa is also giving brides the option to show off gorgeous gams in styles that are relaxed chic or glam and feathered.

As we’ve seen from New York International Bridal Week, the Fall 2012 collections are big on lace overlay and transparency especially in the form of sleeves. Most likely inspired by Kate Middleton’s royal wedding dress, sleeves are emerging as a top trend in bridal wear. With sparkling billowy poet sleeves and arms covered in bold embroidered swirls, Marchesa takes the trend to another level.

Marchesa always contributes beautiful and innovative designs to the world of bridal wear. I’m glad to see such a vast collection compared to their Spring 2011 collection.

    • Do you mean spring 2012?

There’s a few of these gowns that I really don’t care for, but I guess that’s why there’s so many.

There are definitely some gorgeous pieces in this collection, I like the underwater inspiration very much. The other dresses are again reminders of Kate’s dress, which was beautiful but should be a trend that should stop invading other great designs and cuts. You can’t transplant transparent sleeves and lace into everything!
