Inspiration & Ideas for a Winter Wonderland Wedding

Winter wedding ceremony

Everyone knows summer is the wedding season, but a winter wedding can be quite enchanting. With starry night skies and soft snowflakes, it’s the perfect setting for the magical ceremony of your dreams. Plus, you’ll be able book your preferred venue and enjoy a wonderland of savings.

When most people think of winter, they don’t usually think of weddings and that’s exactly what makes them so great! By choosing to get married in the slowest of wedding seasons, you are taking advantage of a sleigh full of savings (perfect for brides on a budget), wedding venue choices, guest availability, magical atmosphere and elegant wedding style. Are you on board yet? Here’s some inspiration for creating a winter wonderland wedding.

Who would have thought bare trees and branches could be so beautiful? When painted to look like they’re covered in ice or snow, they glisten and make the perfect decoration for your winter wedding ceremony. Similar to a Christmas wedding, start with white as the main color for your wedding, then incorporate blue, silver, gold, or purple. Along with trees, lovebirds fit in well with this theme, like on this winter wedding invitation from Invite Site–one of our favorite sites for DIY inviations.

Don’t stop with the branches at the ceremony–incorporate these (somehow) beautiful piles of sticks into your winter wedding reception as well. Hang them in bunches along with snowflakes from the ceiling to simulate the mystical feeling of a winter night’s open sky. With the cold weather and icy decor, make sure to warm things up with lights or candles. You can go for all over mood lighting, accents and shadows, or hubs of fire within your icy castle. It’s your winter wedding wonderland–how will you make it magical?

I would just worry about the weather being terrible, like an icy snowstorm and it would be too dangerous for guests to arrive to a winter wedding. But if I did, I would serve hot chocolate : )
