Green wedding tip: car pooling

Transport is always an issue with weddings, isn’t it? Who’s coming, and how? How will we get there? Suddenly, maps, mileage and gas stations become part of your wedding planning, right along with the flowers and frills. Some couples organize buses to take their guests to and from churches, photo locations and reception venues. However, with people often coming from far and wide, it’s somewhat unlikely that they will all want to get picked up and dropped off in the same place. How to keep your venue’s parking lot from getting gridlock and make sure your wedding’s carbon footprint is not any bigger than it needs to be?

Our big bet for this season? Car pooling. OK, it’s not original, but we need to do it more! And Zankyou is here to help!

Thanks to your wedding webpage as a source to help you plan your big day, you can ask your guests to post their travel arrangements, so that different people can check out where they’re all coming from and see whether car pooling could be an option.

You can also include your transport ideas in your introduction on your homepage so that your guests understand how much you would appreciate their cooperation in getting everyone to the fun part on time and with minimal exhaust fumes!

If you manage to organize things well, some of your friends who have never met might be sharing the trip to the wedding, which means that by the time they get to the reception, they’ll be best buddies!

And others who live close by, but don’t want to drink and drive, can catch a lift with someone who’s taking a car, thus cutting the carbon footprint and keeping safe at the same time.
