Getting that Hollywood movie star bridal look
Hollywood has long been the inspiration for glamorous, elegant gowns for formal occasions. And this year, perhaps in defiance of credit crunch gloom, bridal collections are taking a page out of the film world’s book and getting really glam. So lights, camera, action – let’s look for those Hollywood-style bridal dresses now!
Alan Hannah’s Red Carpet collection, Hollywood Dreams and beautiful models like Pronovias Gaudí (to see a pic visit our post on the Pronovias 2010 collection) all show the potential for glamour on your wedding day. So what do you need to look for to make sure your wedding dress would be fit to grace any red carpet?
- Figure-hugging bodices – Hollywood stars show off their curves and you can too, but you don’t have to go over the top to look glam. A well-structured bodice or an embellished neckline can draw attention to your feminine attributes without being too revealing. A tight bodice can also carry on down into a mermaid-style wedding dress, which will also accentuate your femininity.
- Glamorous accessories – such as long gloves, a clutch bag or jewelry (a diamond bracelet or drop earrings like Grace Kelly’s above) will especially complement mermaid-style or strapless dresses. Or for you winter brides, a false fur stole can increase your glam rating while also keeping you warm!
- Hair – if your dress is a style from a certain era, it’s worth researching into the typical film-star hairstyles of the time too. From Grace Kelly-inspired waves to a Ginger Rogers-type up-do, your hair should be as glamorous and stylish as your dress.
- Make-up – lips and eyes are key. Check out these 6 steps to red carpet glamour for help.
And to make sure your future husband looks as glam as you, why not go for an Ocean’s 11-inspired black suit, white shirt and black tie. For more on classic men’s attire, check out the Hugo Boss black Passolini Suit for that perfect Hollywood look.
