Editor’s Friday Favorite – Project Save the Date

Kyle Ostendorf and Katie Harrell are getting married in 2011, and they ordered Save-the-Date cards to tell their friends and relatives their exciting news. But when a printer error resulted in 450 extra notecards, this creative couple came up with a fantastic plan…
Kyle and Katie didn’t want the giant stack of engagement announcements to go to waste, so they started their Project Save the Date blog:
“Due to a mix up with the printer, we received 450 extra Save The Dates. Instead of letting them go to waste we decided to let them travel the world. We love to travel and want to see the world and hope to in our life together. Until we are able to travel the world we want our Save The Dates to travel the world for us. We are asking people to take a picture of our Save The Date around the world at iconic locations, unique spots, or beautiful scenery.”
How fantastic! So far the couple has received dozens of photos of folks posing with their Save the Dates in locations from Old Faithful to Yankee Stadium, and everywhere in between. It’s like the Flat Stanley Project, but for weddings!
You can email Kyle and Katie for one of their Save the Dates at ProjectSaveTheDate@gmail.com.
We’re going to email them right now to get a Save the Date! We hope to snap a picture of it in all the countries where Zankyou is represented!
How have you and your fiance taken lemons and made lemonade as you plan your wedding?
Have a great weekend!
-Kristen
