Color Takes Over NYC’s Bridal Fashion Week Runways: Colorful Wedding Dresses From Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, & More!

Last year, Vera Wang shocked the wedding industry to its core with a collection of black wedding dresses she debuted during NYC’s Bridal Fashion Week. But nothing could have prepared us for the explosion of color we’ve seen across several Spring 2013 wedding dress collections on the runways this year. Will 2013 be the breakthrough year for non-white wedding dress hues?

Vera flummoxed the wedding world for a second time this year when she rolled out a line of bright crimson red, scarlet, and rusty maroon and plum gowns for Spring 2013. While each dress design was absolutely stunning, we can’t help but wonder – will red really ever be a contender in a world of white, ivory, and blush? (See Vera Wang’s complete Spring 2013 bridal collection here!)

Romona Keveza’s runway was awash with bold color choices – red, black, and a barely-there pink all made an appearance, but we’re quite partial to this gorgeous, sparkling metallic silver gown. Metallics were a huge trend for bridesmaids and bridal accessories this past winter – can metallics make the leap to bridal fashion? We hope so! (See the rest of Romona Keveza’s wedding gown collecton here!)

While fashion stalwart Oscar de la Renta sent a few statement-making red creations of his own down the runway, his latest bridal collection also played with soft pastel blue accents. Could this explosion of baby blue tulle translate from runway to retail? (See the rest of Oscar de la Renta’s bridal collection here!)

Maggie Sottero was clearly thinking pink for Spring 2013. We love the sophisticated ruching of this fit-to-flare gown – and the transition to decadent tiers of ruffles is simply divine! (See more of Maggie Sottero’s gorgeous wedding gowns here.)

Ines Di Santo dazzled us with this Art Nouveau-inspired black wedding gown. We love the delicate detailing on the embroidered overlay and illusion neckline. This design is far from Vera Wang’s spooky black gowns of yesteryear. (See more of her black and white wedding gowns here.)

Junko Yoshioka’s collection has been one of my personal favorites thus far (See more of her Spring 2013 collection here!) – and while the designer played it safe, color-wise, I just had to show you her singular blush pink gown. Isn’t it stunning? Stay tuned for our Bridal Fashion Week wrap-up this Friday – we’ll be selecting our top 10 favorite gowns for Spring 2013! Were our predictions for Spring 2013 wedding gown trends correct? Or do we lack the gift of fashion clairvoyance? (Spoiler alert: We don’t.)
