Carolina Herrera stated that for her spring 2012 Bridal collection, she wanted to pay homage to today’s woman. She is a traditionalist by heart, so she showed us beautiful and innovative white wedding dresses with contemporary updates.

As old fashioned as Ms. Herrera maybe, her designs were current and fresh. The cuts and shapes were modern. The tailoring was superb and the details were impressive.

The Carolina Herrera bridal spring 2012 collection was timeless classics that was adorned with feathers, crystals and pearls.

There were ball gown like dresses for the brides who dared to make a grand entrance. But she also showed us a simple slip on white silk crepe dress for the more demure brides.

While we applaud the classic designer that Ms Herrera is, we would’ve loved to have seen more colored gowns or splashes of it thrown around in the collection. She stated that she wanted this bridal collection for today’s woman, but today’s woman is looking for more variety and choices. They want to be surprised and knocked off their feet. The spring 2012 bridal collection was surely attractive but it lacked that wow factor that we’ve come to expect from the designer.

The Carolina Herrera label has only been around since 1981. This practically makes her a newcomer to the fashion scene. But in those short 20 years, Ms. Herrera has built her brand to be one of the top labels in the fashion industry and around the globe.
