Recently, couples have been looking to The Hunger Games books and movie for beautiful, outdoor wedding ideas. While a futuristic tale of teens battling to the death may seem like a strange place to glean wedding inspiration from, we’ve seen proof positive that extreme fan-dom of any sort can result in some particularly awesome themed weddings!

Since we’ve seen a bevy of lovely Hunger Games-inspired stationery, hair & make-up, and table setting ideas in Hunger Games-themed photo shoots like the ones on Green Wedding Shoes or The Wedding Chicks, we thought we’d showcase a few particularly Katniss appropriate wedding dresses! That’s right, these are gowns that you can run in, leap in, and if necessary, fight to the death in (hopefully the in-law tension won’t be THAT high on your big day).

This lines on this Grecian-influenced style from Shopbop.com give it a definite archery vibe. Just swap out the designer pumps for knee-high boots, then grab your bow, throw on your quiver, and run for the woods!

Clarissa Gown

This gorgeous silk georgette J.Crew tank wedding gown features funky, organic ruffles that cascade down the bodice and skirt. This unconventional style reminds us of the progressive fashions of The Capitol – but it has just enough woodland whimsy to look right at home on Katniss.

The open silhouette of this Calvin Klein trapeze dress from Nordstrom allows you to bend, twist, climb, and dodge any (metaphorical) flying knives that might get thrown your way. Plus, it’ll look extra romantic with a chunky, single braid flowing down one shoulder.

The Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins drew part of her inspiration for the book from the Greek myth of Theseus – so it’s fitting that goddess-style one-shoulder gowns, like this Alice + Olivia, number remind us so much of her heroine, Katniss.

This futuristic frock from Shopbop.com seems particularly Panem-esque. The flowing jersey construction allows for total freedom of movement, and the sheer cut-out panels show off your toned arms and torso – and mimic the shape of Katniss’ deadly weapon of choice!
