Long hair offers a range of possibilities for your wedding hairstyle. Here are some modern, romantic coiffures to suit any style, whether you want to wear your hair long and loose or up and elegant.

When perusing 2011 hair trends, we’ve seen very long long hair on brides of all ages, or contrarily, short, pixie-like styles – everything in extremes.

If you have long hair, consider getting a new style or trim a few months before your wedding. Ask your hairstylist to tame your long tresses into a style that is ideal for your face shape.

You’ll want to choose a wedding day hairstyle with volume, since it will have to last throughout the day. You may want to choose something that will keep long strands off your face for photos, or off the back of your neck if you plan to work up a sweat on the dance floor with your guests. We’re seeing wedding hairstyles with bangs, natural waves, braids and  high ponytails for 2011.

If you have a round face, add some piece-y layers around the face to add dimension. If you have an oval or heart-shaped face, you can usually pull off a cleanly swept-back look.

Long waves for a destination wedding

If you have a slightly asymmetrical hairline, avoid hairstyles that are parted down the middle. Side-swept bangs look elegant on this face shape.

Blondes with long hair can show off Rapunzel-like tresses with braided styles and sun-kissed waves.
