Bird Wedding Themes: Sweet New Wedding Trend for 2013?

Rumor has it bird wedding themes are back in style and will be one of the sweet new 2013 wedding trends. We think we’ll see a lot of charming little nests, vintage-inspired bird cages and pretty birds from all flocks of life in 2013 wedding decorations and wedding fashion.

Rustic Bird Theme Wedding Decorations: From wood carvings to authentic looking nests, we love all the rustic and natural bird-inspired wedding decorations. Engraved wood bird wedding cake toppers (see top photo) and love bird signs from BraggingBags are charming for a nature lover’s wedding reception. The sweet wood-carved Mr. and Mrs. bird cake toppers from Go Rustic (with tiny veil and bow tie) appeal to wedding couples who enjoy rustic bird themes with a sense of humor. And who knew a wedding table adorned with bird nest centerpieces full of perfect peonies would look as elegant as the setting above from Martha Stewart? This is very pretty proof that rustic elements can make for awe-inducing bird-inspired wedding decor.

Beautiful Bird Cages: There’s just something special about bird cages in wedding decor that adds an element of nature-meets-vintage inspired design. Decorated with flowers, ribbons and candles these intricate wire cages can look like bohemian style chandeliers.
We think bird cage centerpieces will be popular again in 2013, like these gorgeous ones from Forever Beautiful and Jaybird Flowers. Beautiful bird cages make for clever wedding card keepers, too, like the rose-topped vintage cage from Mackensley Designs.

Bird Theme Garlands and Banners: Bird-inspired garlands and banners make beautiful wedding decorations, as well as fun wedding photo props and backdrops. The paper garlands from Little Retreats and Simply Nesting on Etsy would pair beautifully with origami wedding decorations, too. Imagine rays of shimmery light bouncing off the Lovebirds Mirrored Bunting from Pamela Angus, lovely for a candlelit reception. We adore the personalized Love Birds tissue paper banner from Vintagebabydoll, giving any wedding style the fun look of a fiesta!

Pretty Bird Wedding Cakes: Bird and bird cage designs for wedding cakes never seem to go out of style. We’re glad bird-inspired cakes like these from Ice Maiden Cakes, Flutterby Bakery, Roxanne Floquet Cake Design and cake designer Anne Barnes (in the photograph from Kelli Hunt Photography) will be the center of attention at many weddings in 2013. We think bird wedding cakes are especially complimentary for garden weddings.

Bird Wedding Accessories For the Ring Bearer and Flower Girl: There is something extra precious about a young child walking down the aisle holding a sweet little bird nest. Consider the ring bearer bird nest from Mackensley Designs and the bird nest flower girl basket from NHWoodscreations for your bird-themed ceremony.

Bird Wedding Fashion: Feathers fluttering from shoes, headpieces and gowns are some of our favorite romantic wedding fashion embellishments. Step out in bird-inspired style with the elegant feather-trimmed D’Orsays from BHLDN. Fasten the beautiful feather bridal headpiece with birdcage veil from Gilded Shadows to your loose up-do or pretty vintage-inspired hairstyle.
Dare to wear a feathered-skirt wedding gown like this non-traditional head-turner dress with floral mesh bodice from CGHeaven. Take a look at our photo gallery for more exciting 2013 feathered wedding dresses, like those from Rivini and Yumi Katsura.
