Bella’s “Breaking Dawn” Wedding Dress Reveal and Replicas

The Twilight Saga continues with fans squirming in anticipation to see the wedding dress Kristen Stewart will wear for her role as Bella in the newest film, “Breaking Dawn.” But more importantly for brides–once the dress is revealed, will they want one of their own?

Twilight author Stephenie Meyer said, “I wanted the dress to have a period feel without being actually vintage….a simpler style than the frillier Edwardian stuff. Elegant white satin, cut on the bias, with long sleeves.” This illustration from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide show us exactly that.

The studio behind the movie, Summit Entertaintment, has been tight-lipped about the dress and wants to keep it a surprise for fans when the movie opens on Friday. Back in June, they let out the snippet of information that Carolina Herrera designed Bella’s wedding dress for the film. Herrera worked closely with Meyer while designing the gown, which readers only get teasing glimpses of from the book such as “a long line of pearl buttons” up the back.
“It was a combination of things. I got inspiration from the book and descriptions from Stephenie Meyer. You had to really take in consideration the whole story—which was this innocent girl with the first true love of her life. It had to be magical. I still have all the sketches and everything because it was so special.” – Caroline Herrera

Twi-brides everywhere will be jumping for joy on November 21 when replicas of the satin and lace dress will be available for $799 in 400 bridal shops including 67 Alfred Angelo stores. Alfred Angelo is no stranger to recreating famous movie wedding dresses. In 1950, he sold replica’s of Elizabeth Taylor‘s gown from the movie “Father of the Bride.”

These shots of Bella at her wedding from the movie trailer give us tiny glimpses of the dress that features a demure neckline exactly like the illustrated design Meyer already revealed.

The Carolina Herrera Fall 2012 bridal collection was full of simple and sophisticated dresses in the classic signature style of the designer. We’re excited to see what she has in store for Bella and the dress that will send thousands of brides down the aisle Twilight style.

I’m not big into replica’s. It’s my special day and I want to be original and not have some knock off!

Looks like the tuxedo is just a tuxedo. I’m soooooo excited for this movie! And to see the dress. Unfortunately I already bought my dress so I won’t be wearing a replica.

Finally, a dress that will be timelessly elegant in spite of the morose twilight backdrop. What about the groom? Will his tux also glitter?
