A new trend in wedding videos has newlyweds seeing…double? No, it’s their wedding video filmed in 3D! Gaining popularity all over the world, 3D wedding videos make wedding day memories fun to watch and look more life-like than ever.

We’re always commenting on how technological advances influence wedding traditions. Thinking about the 3D blockbuster movies that are becoming increasingly popular in Hollywood, it might become very common that couples’ wedding videos will require special viewing glasses, too. We’ve seen that Save the Date videos are becoming more popular, will a trend like 3D wedding videos follow suit?

Wedding videographers are experimenting with 3D technology for the best way to capture gorgeous 3D wedding scenes. In fact, wedding videographers filming in 3D require the assistance of a stereographer – a stereo photography professional who watches the 3D footage (with 3D glasses on!) as it’s being filmed, to give guidance to the videographer.

Edgard Neves is a a cinematographer from the Australian film company Untitled Film Works and was part of the team that made the first Australian wedding 3D video. Neves said of his first 3D filming experience, “The first time I saw the cameras and saw the [3D] footage, I was a little bit…well, will people enjoy it or not? But then after shooting this wedding and watching the footage and the results, it definitely blew me away.”
