3 Winter Wonderland Honeymoon Destinations in the US

If you love “walking in a winter wonderland”, then perhaps you should consider a winter honeymoon destination. Whether you’re having a winter wedding, or you just want to enjoy everything the chilly season has to offer, there are plenty of destinations to choose from!

1) Stowe, Vermont: Stowe boasts a quiet, small mountain town equipped with little plazas of family owned shops adorned with Christmas lights year round. The Stowe Mountain Lodge is the quintessential winter getaway with plenty of options for everyone. Lodging accomodations include guestrooms, suites, condos and cabins. You can enjoy the snowy weather at the ski-in, ski-out resort with 485 skiable acres including beginner, intermediate and expert trails. You can also participate in snow-showing or ice-fishing, take a dog sledding tour, or take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage.

In addition to providing outdoor activities, Stowe Mountain Lodge is also home to a top-rate spa and salon. It also boasts some of the finest dining in the northeast from casual to fine dining. They incorporate a farm-to-table ideology into all their cuisine, which uses only fresh and local ingredients.

2) Frankenmuth, Michigan: Take a trip to Germany without ever needing a passport, by escaping to Frankenmuth. Over three million tourists travel to this small northern town each year to experience it’s fesitvals and Bavarian charm.

Choose from a variety of bed and breakfasts and hotels, including Zehnder’s that provides great dining, an indoor waterpark and Zehnder’s Marketplace. In January, you can partake in Zehnder’s Snowfest, where you’ll be met with entertainment, a fireworks display, and larger-than life snow and ice sculptures.

3) New York, New York Perhaps the “City that Never Sleeps” is your perfect winter honeymoon destination. With endless tourist attractions, like some of the world’s best shopping and dining, Broadway musicals and plays, and various museums holding famous pieces, you’ll never tire of things to do.

The ice rink at Rockefeller Center, most famous for it’s giant Christmas tree in December, has become one of the quintessential NYC experiences. The rink is open from November to April, so there is plenty of time to pack in some wintry fun during your honeymoon trip.

I love vacationing in NYC, but never really thought about honeymooning there until reading this. It makes perfect sense – I never have enough time to see and do everything I want. Plus, how romantic is the top of the Empire State Building or taking a carriage ride through Central Park!

I don’t think I want to spend my honeymoon in cold weather, but the lodge in Vermont looks really relaxing!

Frankenmuth looks cute. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of it before. I’m worried there won’t be enough to do there though.

I love Frankenmuth, Michigan! It brings back so many childhood memories for me. I’m finally going back this year and can’t wait to see the brewery’s ice sculpture at Zehnder’s Snowfest! http://frankenmuthbrewery.com/blog/brewery/zehnders-snowfest-2012/
