2011 Trend: Late-night snacks for receptions

If all goes well, your wedding reception will be a party that lasts long into the night. A party that people will be talking about for weeks, nay, years to come. A party that will keep going long past dinner, and therefore, will require a late-night snack for your guests.

Much like the wedding trend of food trucks, this is an area of your wedding menu where you can have some fun. Talk to your caterer and reception venue management to find out what your late-night food options are. (And be sure to tip any waitstaff who stay on for an extra round of service!)

If you choose to have a late-night snack option for your guests, make sure it’s something that’s easy to eat. Finger foods like popcorn, donuts and cookies are ideal, because people can eat them while they chat and move about the room. Remember, you don’t want everyone sitting back down and losing their wedding euphoria.

Mini versions of your favorite foods – like the sliders & fries pictured above – are great fuel to keep the party going. Consider serving late-night snacks in fun, convenient packaging, like individually-sized Chinese take-out containers.

The best tip is to keep it simple. One or two basic snacks, such as cookies & milk, cotton candy, or even bags of trail mix for each guest, is plenty. Your friends and family will appreciate the little treat, and you can keep on dancing into the wee hours of the morning!
