2010 Wedding dress trend – Peplum

Wedding dresses for 2010 for 2010 brides are coming out across the globe, and I bet you’re all dying to try them on. To help you choose, we’re always telling you about new trends and styles. The latest is the peplum. “The Peplum?!” we hear you cry. OK, let us explain…
Once explained, this new trend is actually not that foreign to any fashion watcher. A peplum is a small overskirt traditionally attached to a jacket or bodice, reminiscent of both the 1940s and the 1980s. Serving as a means of drawing attention to a tiny waist by drawing the hips out wider, the peplum is complemented by a pencil skirt underneath, creating a very feminine but edgy silhouette.

So, how does peplum work in bridal? Some of you children of the ’80s may want to relive the era’s fashion while walking down the aisle, but for those of you who don’t, all is not lost! Attached to bridal bodices, this look is not only embellishing mermaid-style dresses this season, but also decorating wider skirts, with half peplums off to one side. The best thing about this feature is that is adds decoration to a simple dress, creating texture through the folds of the peplum. And, as it creates an angle jutting out to the side, a peplum not only outlines your shape but also adds volume to your look. So, with a peplum on your dress, you can go from edgy to pretty, depending on the style. Take a look at some examples below!
