overseas wedding costs for guests

My friend just invited to her wedding in Barcelona this summer but I just can't afford the trip. Isn't it selfish of her to have an overseas wedding?

Even if it is selfish, she's allowed to be. This is her wedding day, not yours. It's all about the couple and what they want. If you can' t afford the trip simply decline the invitation. However, if you were able to afford the trip, I'm sure you would have a great time as the guest at her wedding where she in return would be so thankful and treat you to a wonderful celebration.

    • Thank you for offering that perspective, I was just really upset that I couldn't go. But yes, she is a dear friend and I'm sure she would be so grateful if I could go and give me the time of my life!

You should feel grateful for being invited. Wouldn't you feel worse if she didn't even invite you? When planning her wedding, I'm sure she considered that some people won't be able to make it abroad.

Just try to explain that you can't go because of your financial unstable and I guess she can understand of it...
