If you make them cute and memorable but for cheap then it's a nice touch for your wedding. You can always DIY and candy is super cheap.

Hi Mary! I agree with you that most favors are throwaway items. If you are ging to do one, make sure it is something that your guest can use in their own home afterwards without your names plastered all over it. Be discrete with any engravings or logos!

I think you shouldn't plaster your names all over your wedding favors. Be discreet and use initials and make it not so obvious so your guest can use them in the future and will remember you fondly.

What about a charitable donation instead? The cost of even cheap favors certainly adds up over the number of guests, so giving that money to a cause you care about can be a meaningful substitute.
